The purpose of Goodwill Industries of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, Inc. is to provide vocational training and job placement services to individuals with barriers to employment. Goodwill provides services to approximately 2,000 individuals annually, helping hundreds get off welfare and changing lives through the power of work.

Skills Training & Certificate Program
Goodwill offers the following certificate programs in customer service and food handling:
Customer Service Certificate from the National Retail Federation (NRF) training utilizes a curriculum that teaches appropriate communication skills needed in the workplace with customers and between employees. The situation-based scenarios model what is expected in retail and in every other customer service environment. This is an industry-recognized certification. A certificate is usually attained in three to ten days.
The ServSafe® Food Safety Training Program delivers food safety training to employees which is required in all California restaurants. This food handling certificate is usually attained in one to two days.
Goodwill Industries is approved to provide the following services on a referral basis:
Individuals with a documented disability referred by the Department of Rehabilitation are eligible to receive workforce services at any Goodwill workforce services location.
Individuals aged 16-21 referred from the Santa Barbara Workforce Investment Board receive job readiness training, customer service training and educational planning.
